IJP Road has been renamed after the brave son of Pakistan, Karnal Sher Khan Shaheed, by the Federal Cabinet.
IJP Road is one of the major roads that is located in Islamabad and Rawalpindi. The road is an important transportation route as it connects and facilitates travel between different areas and cities.
Kernel Sher Khan Shaheed was a brave officer of the Pakistan Army. He displayed exceptional courage and leadership in the Kargil War between India and Pakistan in 1999.
Sher Khan led his troops in the areas of Gultari and even after being outnumbered and facing intense attack from enemies, he successfully recaptured the various strategic positions.
However, Kernel Sher Khan lost his life during the battle on 5 July 1999 while defending the borders of our beloved country.
Kernel Sher Khan was awarded the highest military honor in Pakistan that is Nishan-e-Haider. He showed immense bravery and sacrificed his life to protect us and that is why his name is remembered with utmost respect and admiration in Pakistan.
Hence, in honor of Kernel Sher Khan, the IJP road which is one of the most important transportation roads has now been named after him.
