  • Oppo Flaunts New Concept Slide Phone With Three Foldable Screens

Oppo has partnered with Japanese design studio Nendo to show off a concept slide phone with three foldable screens. Yes, a Tri-fold sliding phone. These three screens can fold in different angles allowing you to fold the phone in several ways depending on your requirements.

The Oppo slide phone was shown off at the China International Industrial Design Expo. The “human centric” design philosophy of the Oppo slide phone aims to let you use the phone based on your needs, instead of forcing you to modify your usage and needs based on the phone’s design.

However, we might never see the launch commercially, but it does provide us a holistic view of what the future of smartphones and accessories might look like and how brands will modify devices according to our needs rather than modifying us according to the usage. Although foldable phones are a reality today but we might see sliding foldable phones one day.

    Oppo Slide Phone

The Oppo Slide Triple Fold can literally fit in the palm of your hands. The Phone when folded is the size of a credit card.

The first unfold of the phone reveals a 1.5-inch screen and 40mm display, which should be adequate for checking time and notifications.

The second unfolds uncovers 80mm of the display, ideal for taking selfies or checking out and even sending quick messages.

The third unfolds reveals the entire display, allowing you to use it for all regular phone functions like multitasking, gaming, watching videos, or simply browsing the web.

All the three foldable screens are held together by three hinges.

When fully unfolded, the phone has a 7-inch screen with narrow bezels. However, the form factor is unusually long but could be good for multitasking, especially in landscape orientation.

    Stylus

Oppo also showed off a stylus and a memo pad app that lets you jot down notes quickly.

The video of the Oppo concept phone also shows off different colors for the phone panels on the outside, suggesting that you could customize the colors.
