Reason Why Pakistani Team Was Wearing Black Bands in Yesterdays Match

The Pakistan cricket team will display their support and solidarity for those impacted by the country’s recent floods by wearing black armbands against India in the opening match of their 2022 Asia Cup campaign.

“Pakistan cricket team will wear black armbands in their first match of ACC T20 Asia Cup 2022 against India today to express their solidarity and support for the flood affectees across the country,” Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said on Sunday.

The largest natural disaster to hit Pakistan in almost ten years is currently taking place. Millions of people in Pakistan are affected by these floods as a result of which the government proclaimed a “National Emergency”. 

Since June 14, many more people have been injured or forced to flee their homes in Pakistan, where the dead toll from floods has surpassed 1,000. The rains and floods have caused at least 1,033 fatalities and 1,527 injuries, as cited by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA). In the previous day, 71 individuals were hurt while around 119 people died.

In Pakistan, the floods have affected at least 110 districts, with 72 of those districts declaring a calamity.
