The World Bank (WB) and the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) will contribute $250 million to Sindh’s integrated health and population programme (IsDB).

According to a government source, the Central Development Working Party has approved a PKR 57.255 billion project for the “Sindh Human Capital Investment: 1000 Days – Integrated Health and Population Program.”

According to the source, the World Bank, IDB, and the Government of Sindh will all contribute to the cost. The World Bank and IsDB will contribute Rs. 51.124 billion to the project, with the Sindh government covering the remaining costs, according to the source.

The project will be completed in 56 months, from November 2022 to June 2027, by Sindh’s Department of Health and Population.

Sindh Human Capital Investment: 1,000 Days – Integrated Health & Population Program was developed under the broad conceptual framework Concept Clearance Proposal approved at CDWP, Planning Commission of Pakistan on December 16, 2020.

The World Bank initially funded the programme with $200 million, but the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) later joined in with $50 million, primarily for the sub-component on women’s economic empowerment (WEE).
