Twitter Responds to Johnny Depp’s Decision to Donate $1 Million From Amber Heard Settlement

johnny depp donates settlement money

Johnny Depp finally received settlement money from Amber Heard after one year of their trial and he decided to donate all the money to charity.

The settlement of the most publicized case of defamation has been completed as Amber has to pay $1 million dollars to her ex-husband as per the order of the Virginia court. After the separation, both of them made allegations of domestic violence against each other. The case sparked debate among the public because everyone was discussing the credibility of the allegations of both parties.

Last year in June, the jury of Virginia awarded Johnny Depp $10 million for compensatory damages and $5 million for punitive damage. Whereas, Amber was also awarded $2 million in compensatory damages.

However, both parties made a settlement in December as Amber agreed to pay Johnny Depp $1 million for damages and Johnny Depp has now decided to donate all the money to five charities that include Red Feather, Make-A-Film Foundation, Tetiaroa Society, The Painted Turtle, and Amazonia Fund Alliance.

As always, Twiterati reacted humorously to the news of Depp donating money to charity:

After the settlement, Amber said that the decision is not an act of concession as she wrote on her Instagram handle that, “It’s important for me to say that I never chose this. I defended my truth, and in doing so my life as I knew it was destroyed. The vilification I have faced on social media is an amplified version of the ways women are re-victimized when they come forward.”
