  • Why Do Apps Keep Crashing on Android and How to Fix it

As an Android user, you must have experienced apps crashing every once in a while. During gaming, video streaming or browsing, apps can stop working and freeze. The frequency of that depends on multiple factors but there are ways you can get rid of them all.

In this article, we will go through the reason for android apps crashing and how you can avoid them.

    Reasons Behind Android Apps Crashing

Android apps can crash due to multiple reasons. Some of these are as follow:

    • Low storage
    • Multiple apps running simultaneously
    • Weak internet
    • Outdated apps
    • Weak chipset
    • Faulty apps (not properly coded), bugs

How to Fix Android Apps Crashing

Below are some simple ways you can avoid app crashing:

    1. Fixing Bugs by Updating Your System
    2. Force Stopping Problematic Apps
    3. Restarting Your Device
    4. Checking Your Wi-Fi
    5. Removing Cache Partition
    6. Clearing Up Space
    7. Expanding the Memory
    8. Freeing Up Cache and App Data
    9. Reinstalling the App
    10. Checking App Permissions or Updating the App
    11. Uninstalling the App
    12. Factory Reset

Now let’s talk about each of the above solutions one by one, in detail.

    1. Fixing Bugs by Updating Your System

An app may be crashing because your operating system is not updated. Therefore, by simply installing any updates you might have missed, you can prevent those inconvenient crashes.

To do that you need to follow the steps below:

    • Go to settings
    • Click system
    • Click updates

That’s it!  Now you have an updated system that works faster.

    2. Force Stopping Problematic Apps

If a Google app keeps crashing you can force stop it to make sure it doesn’t cause your entire system to crash. To do that, you should follow these steps:

    • Go to your settings
    • Choose the app you want to stop
    • Click “force stop”

That would stop the app from working and slowing down your system

    3. Restarting Your Device

If you feel like an app is continuously crashing, a simple trick can be to restart your phone. That would stop the processes halting the functioning of your device. Restarting also erases memory and helps the system recover.

Another reason why restarting helps is that bugs can enter your system through various software after prolonged use. So restarting is a simple 1-min solution to the problem.

    4. Checking Your Wi-Fi

A slow Wi-Fi can affect app performance. Certain apps don’t work that well with slow Wi-Fi therefore checking your network connection is a good idea. You can shift to cellular data if the Wi-Fi isn’t working.

    5. Removing Cache Partition

An app may crash if there is something wrong with the cache partition. The partition saves the app data and other files on your phone. By wiping it you can solve the app crashing issue.

Wiping cache is done differently on every phone so check the process for your phone and try it out!

    6. Clearing Up Space

Sometimes low memory can be the reason why apps crash and the system works very slowly. Your phone might have low space which may cause apps to crash or to get stuck frequently. Therefore do check your memory and see if you have ample free space.

If possible clear up data and remove extra files that you no longer need.

    7. Expanding the Memory

While clearing up space is one thing, some phones don’t come with a lot of memory in the first place. Therefore, one thing you can do is to use an external card to expand your memory. That way you don’t have to worry about limited memory.

Plus you can expand according to your needs. Just move unnecessary files to an external card so in case you don’t have the card, you won’t lose anything important.

    8. Freeing Up Cache and App Data

Cache data and files from the app can build up, causing the app to crash. To solve that issue you should take the following steps:

    • Open phone settings
    • Click “Apps”
    • Click “App Manager”
    • Tap “Clear data”
    • Click “Clear Cache”

Once that’s done, you will observe a smoother app performance. You can also use an anti-virus app to clear app extra files and cache data.

    9. Reinstalling the App

If you think the current version of an app doesn’t fit your system, you can uninstall it and then reinstall it. That way you can add the latest app version to your system that works. The app might be corrupt due to improper installation, therefore re-installing it can solve that problem.

    10. Checking App Permissions or Updating the App

Apps require permission to carry out certain tasks on your system. If you don’t give them all the permissions they need, they might not run properly and crash.

Ideally, apps should work anyways, but some apps with faulty coding don’t. Therefore, you can either find an alternative or grant permissions. To do so you can follow these steps:

    • Go to “Settings”
    • Click “Apps”
    • Select the app
    • Click “Permissions”
    • Grant permissions as required

You can also update the app. That way you can get rid of bugs that are affecting the app performance.

    11. Uninstalling the App

If you have tried multiple tricks and nothing seems to work, you should uninstall the app. That is because the app might be incompatible with software in your system or may have bugs that you can’t do anything about.

Just uninstall the app from your system and clear its data to get rid of it once and for all!

    12. Factory Reset

If nothing seems to work, your best bet is to apply factory reset. Factory reset removes all the data in your phone making it brand new from the inside. That frees up space, removes extra files, and gets rid of problematic apps.

To factory reset your phone, do the following steps:

    • Open “Settings”
    • Click the “About” option
    • Select “Backup and reset”

Note: Make sure you have a backup, so you don’t lose all your important files and data.

    Final Words

As an Android user, you must have experienced android apps crashing many times. While it depends on multiple things, there are so many ways they can be dealt with.

You can restart and update your phone, you can re-install, update or uninstall the app. You can try removing cache and app data, you can erase the cache partition and if nothing works, you can factory reset your phone.

Android apps are improved and updated frequently, so whatever kind of problem you encounter, you can find a solution for it!

iOS 15: Introducing Shared Experiences With On-device Intelligence

Apple’s next-generation iOS operating system is available now.

iOS 15 is Apple’s latest operating system for iPhones which is available now for all users. We will walk you through the latest iOS version and its new features.

Just a week after Apple released iOS 14.8, the new iOS update came that brought new features and addressed some security issues. The latest iOS update added new functionalities like FaceTime calls with Android users can now be started, iMessage sharing has been simplified, and Maps directions have been improved. Read further to find out how to download iOS 15, as well as some of the most exciting new features.

iOS 15 Release Date in Pakistan

As is customary for Apple, iOS 15 was first announced at the company’s annual “Worldwide Developers Conference” on June 7, 2021. The new operating system was initially made available for developers to test before being made available for the general public to download on June 30 as a public beta.

iOS 15 became broadly accessible for free download on September 20, 2021, according to an announcement made by Apple during the iPhone 13 presentation on September 14. If the users haven’t already downloaded the new iOS 15, they can now download the latest version of the operating system.

This is consistent with Apple’s regular iOS release pattern, which sees the software arrive within a week of each iPhone launch event, as previously reported. If you’ve been using the same iPhone since 2015 or later, you’ll most likely be eligible to obtain iOS 15. Apple’s iOS 15 operating system is accessible on the iPhone 6S and every subsequent iPhone.

    iOS 15 Features

Here are the highlights of the key new iOS 15 features that come with the new iOS update.

    FaceTime

FaceTime uses “Spatial Audio” to give the impression that people’s voices are emanating from their actual positions on the screen, making video chats feel more genuine and lifelike than ever before. FaceTime is also beginning to resemble Zoom in terms of functionality, allowing you to see all participants in a grid view, schedule calls, and send links to calls that can be accessed via a browser on Google Android and Microsoft Windows devices, among other features.

    iMessage

iOS 15 introduces new “iMessage sharing tools” for photos, news articles, and playlists, in addition to existing functionalities. The photographs you receive from a friend will show in a dynamic collage structure that allows you to swipe through them or tap through to see the entire collection in your photos app. You’ll find the same photographs stored in a new “Shared with You” folder, as well as among your own featured photos and memories, if you want to access them again in the future. Shared with You tabs have been added to the News and Apple Music apps, where you’ll find news stories and playlists that have been shared through iMessage.

    Maps

Increased elevation data, road colors, and driving directions, as well as rich labeling, 3D landmarks, and an improved night mode, are all included in this update. As for public transportation, you can use your iPhone or Apple Watch to save the locations of nearby public transit stations and station information. You can then get automated alerts and messages as you ride and approach your stop. A new augmented reality tool for walking allows you to scan adjacent buildings in the vicinity with your iPhone’s camera to establish their specific location, which can then be used to generate more accurate walking directions, which are also presented as augmented reality.

    Photos

As technology advances, so does photo search. Searching for text within photographs is now possible using Spotlight search. This is linked to a function named “Live Text”. The Live Text button will appear in the bottom right of each photo you view, whether through the viewfinder, in real-time, or in your photo library. The text in the image will be highlighted and you can pick, copy, or interact with it – for example, you can tap and choose to call a phone number.

Live Text will be able to recognize seven languages. However, Photos’ increased intelligence isn’t confined to text. Non-textual Visual Look Up will also be available, allowing you to query the breed of a depicted dog, for example, or the identification of a piece of art or landmark. It’s nothing new in the tech business, and Google Photos has proven itself capable of such computational feats in the past.

    Focus

The ability to establish several sets of settings for different portions of your life is made possible by this feature. In this way, you may establish a work Focus state, and your availability, notification settings, and the placement of apps and widgets on your Home screen will all be customized to fit your work schedule and needs. You can construct another one for when you’re sleeping or for when you’re doing something recreational. It’s the same sort of concept as Do Not Disturb While Driving, except it’s applied to a wider range of situations.

    Weather

Weather has a new design, as well as a slew of visually appealing new animations and updated climate maps.

    Airpods

Last but not least, iOS 15 includes a number of useful additions for AirPods users, including enhanced performance in the Find My app, a separation alert, and the ability to read out high-priority messages that are relevant to the current context.

    Download and Install iOS 15

iOS 15 is now available to all users with compatible devices, and it can be downloaded and installed through the “Software Update” section of the Settings app.

    iOS 15 Updates

Since the release of iOS 15, Apple has released a number of new versions of the operating system, both for the general public and for developers. Here are some of the most significant features that Apple has introduced since the release of iOS 15.

    iOS 15.2

iOS 15.2, which was released in December, 2021, had bug patches as well as some new features that certain iPhone owners had been requesting. It has planned to include the ability to search within an Apple Music playlist as a new feature. iPhone 13 Pro and Max owners were also taking advantage of the ultrawide lens on their phones by employing Macro Controls to capture close-ups and macro shots. The App Privacy Report, on the other hand, is the most significant new feature. This report details the data and sensors that each app can access, as well as the network activity associated with those apps and other privacy-related information. The iOS 15.2 update is now available for all users to download and install.

    iOS 15.3

A number of security vulnerabilities were addressed in iOS 15.3, which was made available to the public in early January 2022. Among the issues addressed was an issue with Safari, which allowed websites you visited to access your browser history and other sensitive data. The update also addressed a number of security flaws in ColorSync, iCloud, and other software programs.

    iOS 15.4 beta

This beta update, which was released to developers on January 27, added the option to unlock Face ID with a mask and glasses while wearing them, as well as Universal Control and new emojis. This update has not yet been made accessible to the general public, and there is no indication as to when it will be made available.

How to Check IMEI Number in Pakistan Via PTA 2022

There are a variety of methods for determining whether or not the phone you are using is registered with the Public Telecommunications Authority (PTA). The first thing you’ll need to figure out is what your phone’s IMEI number is.

How to Check the IMEI Number of Devices?

If you are unaware of the IMEI number of your mobile phone, you can find it out by dialing *#06# on your mobile dialer of the same device. After pressing ‘#’, the IMEI number of your device will appear on the screen. It’s possible that you’ll see two IMEI numbers on your phone’s screen if it has two SIM cards.

    What is IMEI?

GSM, WCDMA, and iDEN mobile phones all have an International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI), which is a unique identifier that may be used to identify them. The reason for this is that each SIM slot on your mobile device has its own unique IMEI number, so phones with dual SIM slots have two distinct IMEI numbers.

    What is DIRBS?

DIRBS is a sophisticated system that has been put in place by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority. It assures that only devices that have been legally imported and approved by the PTA can be used on Pakistan’s cellular networks.

    PTA IMEI Check – 2022

Consumers are recommended to check the validity of a mobile device before purchasing it in accordance with PTA (Pakistan Telecommunication Authority) laws by employing one of the three techniques listed below. Prior to authenticating the device with DIRBS, please ensure that the IMEI displayed on the mobile device screen matches the IMEI stated on the product box before proceeding.

    1. SMS Based Verification
    2. App Based Verification
    3. Website Based Verification

SMS Based PTA Mobile Registration Check

You can check the status of your mobile device through SMS based PTA mobile registration. Instructions for the SMS based verification are as below:

    1. Go to messages
    2. Create a new message
    3. Type 15-digit IMEI number
    4. Send to 8484

Application Based PTA Mobile Registration Check

PTA mobile registration has an application on Google Playstore for Android users. DVS (Device Verification System) is the name of the app and is easily downloadable from the Playstore. Using this app, you can check the status of your device’s IMEI.

Website Based PTA Mobile Registration Check

Third way to check the status of your mobile phone registration is by verifying the phone’s IMEI. to accomplish this, visit the official website of DIRBS by PTA.

Official Website for Device Verification: https://dirbs.pta.gov.pk/

The next step is to enter the IMEI number given on your device in the required field and press enter to find out the status.

The response “IMEI is compliant” indicates that your mobile phone has been confirmed.

    PTA Helpline

Regulatory oversight of telecommunications in Pakistan is provided by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), which oversees its construction, operation, and maintenance. Because non-PTA registered devices are automatically prohibited after a specified amount of time, you must use a handset that is PTA compliant. If you require support or a PTA Tax check, you can get in touch with the PTA Helpline:

    Helpline Number: 0800-55055

    Visiting Hours:

    • Monday to Thursday (09:00 AM to 03:00 PM)
    • Friday (09:00 AM to 01:00 PM) – (02:00 PM – 3:00 PM)

4 Responses While Checking the Status of IMEI

There are four types of responses that a subscriber might expect to receive when enquiring about the status of his or her IMEI(s), which are discussed further below:

    • Compliant
    • Non-compliant
    • Blocked
    • Valid

Compliant Devices are type authorized by the Pakistan Telecommunications Authority (PTA) and are lawfully imported into Pakistan.

Non-compliant devices are those in which the IMEI has either not been assigned by the GSMA or has been duplicated on more than one occasion.

Blocked devices indicate that your device has been restricted due to the fact that your IMEI has been reported as stolen previously.

Valid devices are those of which the IMEI is valid (GSMA certified), but the device is not PTA compliant or approved.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Question. How do I know if my phone is PTA approved?

Answer. To determine whether or not your IMEI number has been approved by the PTA, you must first dial *#06# and then send a text message with each 15-digit IMEI number to 8484

    Question. Is PTA blocking Phones?

Answer. Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has claimed to block more than 3 million phones that were being sold or used illegally. More than half of the supposedly prohibited phones were illegally smuggled out of the country, and those barred instead were those that didn’t meet the 5th January 2019 deadline for registering their phones.

Question. Can we unblock a blocked phone?

Answer. Yes, a blocked phone can be unblocked by registering on PTA. By giving a tax amount on that particular phone, you can get it unblocked.

Question. What happens if we use a phone that is not PTA approved?

Answer. Using a phone that is not approved by PTA leaves you in a tension of your IMEI number getting blocked at any time.

Question. Can my SIM work on a blocked phone?

Answer. Putting a new SIM in a phone that is already blocked by PTA will not allow it to work as the wireless carriers would deny access to the cellular networks. The smartphones are blocked by their IMEIs, therefore, the SIM either new or old will not work.

    Ending Remarks

We stress that mobile device users should always check their IMEI before purchasing or getting any device. It is recommended that only PTA-compliant/approved mobile devices be purchased.

    • Unplanned Strategies
    • New Connection on Old Frequencies
    • Infrastructure Needs Work
    • Lack Of Awareness

What Stops 5g coming to Pakistan
    Source: Google

The market is not ready for 5G connectivity these days because most of the phones that are being manufactured in Pakistan do not support 5G connectivity. The gadgets are not compatible with 5G connectivity and we need to change a lot of things to make everything compatible with the 5G connectivity. Some of the high-end phones do come with 5G connectivity such as Samsung galaxy S22 ultra, iPhone 13 pro, Xiaomi 11T pro, etc; however, most of the phones still need to be updated for getting 5G connectivity.

Since the low budget phones do not have 5G connectivity and most of the people in Pakistan have low budget phones then in such cases it is difficult to expect the success of 5G connectivity in Pakistan.

    Unplanned Strategies

What Stops 5g coming to Pakistan
    Source Google

Although Pakistan does have 4G connectivity, a lot of people are still stuck with 2G connectivity because of the unplanned strategies in Pakistan. Since, because of zero plans and strategies, a lot of people do not have any idea about 4G connectivity because of which they do not use it and in order to move from 4G to 5G connectivity it is believed that at least 60 percent of people should be using 4G connectivity. Expecting such a large crowd to use 4G connectivity is a task filled with hurdles because a lot of people have no awareness about these connectivity.

Therefore, planned strategies are required to create awareness in people about these connectivity and to transfer a major chunk of people to 4G connectivity and then to 5G connectivity eventually,  to be sure about its success.

    New Connection on Old Frequencies

What Stops 5g coming to Pakistan
    Source: Google

People in Pakistan are establishing new connections on old frequencies and that is the main hindrance in getting the fast internet connection. Even if 5G connectivity is launched in Pakistan , the companies will still try to establish it on old frequencies which nullify the purpose of 5G as it negates the purpose of 4G in Pakistan.

    Infrastructure Needs Work

What Stops 5g coming to Pakistan
    Source: Google

Another reason we don’t have 5G in Pakistan is that the infrastructure needs a lot of work to get ready for 5G connectivity. To introduce 5G connectivity in Pakistan requires a hell lot of investments, a new spectrum policy and deployments. Hence, it is not a piece of cake to just introduce the new connectivity, it requires much more than that.

According to the CEO of Jazz mobile company, if people require more after internet service we can provide them through more robust 4G connectivity, instead of spending a lot of money on all new 5G connectivity which will obviously take a lot of time to get introduced in Pakistan.

    Lack Of Awareness

What Stops 5g coming to Pakistan
    Source: Google

A lot of people using the internet resides in rural area, where getting the internet is a big deal and they have no awareness about the 2G, 3G, 4G, or 5G connectivity and if we want 5G connectivity to be a success in Pakistan, awareness is needed to be created to all people about it. So along with the development of infrastructure and policies PTA also needs to make sure that the people are aware about it and accept it for their betterment instead of being stuck on 2G connectivity till now.

We Need To Go a Long Way

We need a lot of work in Pakistan to make it ready for 5G connectivity and it requires a lot of planning and strategies. However, we are progressing day by day and hopefully by 2023 we will have 5G connectivity in Pakistan too.

PTA Mobile Phone Taxes/Duty in Pakistan as of 2022

If you are planning to “import” a phone or bring along a mobile device into Pakistan, you’d have to pay taxes for it whether it’s a feature phone or a smartphone/tablet. PTA (Pakistan Telecommunication Authority) levied charges and fees on the import of mobile phones on the orders of the Pakistani government beginning December 1, 2018. For the purpose of duty/tax clearance, bespoke values have been ascribed to mobile phones based on their brands, models, and types. Only custom value paid phones would be regularized in the future, according to the guidelines by Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA).

Here’s all you need to know about bringing mobile devices into Pakistan. This table below will assist you in determining the approximate mobile phone taxes that you will have to pay at the airport or at the customs office.

This means that the new PTA Taxes for smartphone approval will be different for different products and will be decided according to the phone’s value.

These are the numerous taxes that you would be responsible for if you import a phone through Ali Express or any other online eCommerce business.

Duty and Taxes on Mobile Phones

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has imposed four distinct tariffs and fees on mobile phone imports. Earlier, the price of each equipment was decided, and then a tax was imposed. However, the policy has been changed, and slabs have been constructed for the people’s convenience.

The regulatory duty on the import of mobile phones priced between $100 and $200 will now be imposed at a flat rate of PKR 25,000 per set, according to the FBR’s website. On the other hand, importing mobile phones worth more than $500 each set will cost an individual PKR 72,500 (on passport) and PKR 85,500 (on ID).

The following are the four categories that will assist overseas travelers who are bringing a new smartphone that is not compliant with the PTA:

    • Between $100 and up to $200 – PKR 25,000
    • Between $200 and up to $350 – PKR 49,000
    • Between $350 and up to $500 – PKR 68,500
    • Over $500 – PKR 85,500

    Closing Thoughts

I hope you were able to determine the excise duty for the phone you intend to import. We recognize that these rates are exorbitant, and we believe that the government should take reasonable efforts to reduce these taxes as quickly as possible.
