Frere Hall
Frere Hall, a representation of the British Raj in Pakistan, has a Venetian-Gothic style and combines native and British architectural elements. Frere Hall was built in 1865 as a memorial to Sir Henry Bartle Edward Frere, the Chief Commissioner of Sindh at the time. Later, as a public library, it served the demands of civil concerns.
The building underwent extensive Islamic art renovation after the British left. As Karachi’s tradition and culture deteriorated over time, Frere Hall came to represent it.
