After the budget was announced, the government of pakistan officially stated and told the civilians that now ISI could officially listen to Pakistani citizen’s phone calls, WhatsApp messages, and more.
The Federal Cabinet has authorized officers of inter-service intelligence (ISI) to receive calls, messages, or trace calls from telecommunications, but officers below grade 18 are not allowed to trace calls.
These decisions allow these officers to use these surveillance abilities to help with national security and other important tasks. However, these rules and oversights ensure that these powers are used properly and don’t violate people’s privacy rights.
The civilians responded aggressively to this news as they are already facing alot because of high taxes, and now they are also concerned for their privacy.
