For the convenience of the residents of the federal capital, the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police has created an online Complaint Management System (CMS).
An official from the ICT Police indicated that residents of Islamabad can now use the ICT Police CMS to lodge complaints from any location in Pakistan, as long as they have Internet access. Talking to the media, he said efforts were being made to ensure that Islamabad residents had access to the best possible amenities. FIR registration, complaints about traffic, against a police official in the country or abroad, about foreigners, about child abuse, and flawed investigations were among the services he mentioned.
He further said that an e-tag number will be sent via WhatsApp or text message. He urged the public to file complaints with the Islamabad Police Department via the department’s official website or a special URL (complaints.islamabadpolice.gov.pk). Inspector General Police stated that the police are working to make Islamabad free of criminal activity by promptly responding to citizen concerns.
Citizens used to have to go to the police station to file a complaint. Following the launch of the CMS, this mode is no longer necessary.
Types of Complaints that can be Registered with CMS
The CMS site allows residents of the country’s capital to file a variety of complaints. Options for complaint type include:
- Registration of FIR
- Complaint of Investigation
- Complaint Against Police
- Crime Against Women and Children
- Traffic Complaint
- Overseas Pakistanis Complaints
- Foreigners Complaints
Complaints will be sent to the appropriate police department, and the CMS will keep track of their progress, with senior ICT police officials able to see how the complaints are being handled.
This is a much-appreciated gesture by the department. However, citizens are still permitted to file complaints in person if they prefer to do so rather than via the internet.
