A 2000MW coal project has been completed in Thar for the first time. The government celebrated 1000 days of the completion of the 886-kilometer-long Matiari-Head Balloki transmission line project under CPEC (China-Pakistan Economic Corridor). Federal Minister Khurram Dastgir Khan stated that more projects for energy generation and distribution are underway.
5000MW Electricity to the National Grid
The Federal Minister for Energy, Engineer Khurram Dastgir Khan, recently stated that the PMLN Government had added 5000 megawatts of electricity to the national grid.
He made the statement while addressing the ceremony of the Matiari-Head Balloki transmission line on its 1000-day celebration.
He also added that a 2000 MW project had been completed in Thar for the first time in the history of the country.
The minister was hopeful about new electricity projects, which would use indigenous resources.
Matiari-Head Balloki Transmission Line
Addressing a press conference at Phoolnagar, the minister stated that the Matiari-Head Balloki transmission line was initiated during the time when Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif was in power ten years ago.
The 886-kilometer-long Matiari-Head Balloki transmission line is a project under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.
The ±660 kV HVDC Matiari-Lahore Transmission Line project evacuates power from coal power plants located at Hub, Port Qasim, and Thar.
The project has a capacity of 4,000 MW, has 2 Convertor Stations, and 2 Grounding Stations.
The total investment for this project was $1,658.34 million, it created 2,212 jobs in Pakistan and helped NTDC to reduce power losses.
He further added that Chinese companies will invest $3.5 billion, which will be helpful for the promotion of nuclear energy.
Minister Khurram Dastgir emphasized the need for higher production of electricity and the strengthening of its distribution system.
