Facebook Video Monetization in Pakistan: All You Need to Know

facebook monetization in Pakistan

Facebook offers content creators the opportunity to earn through monetization. When monetization is turned on, one can earn through multiple ways and many consider it as a full-time job.

Sadly, the same cannot be said for Pakistan where Facebook Monetization doesn’t exist. Is that about to change? Yes.

The ministry of Information Technology is working on changing that through a test program that will find possibilities of Facebook monetization in Pakistan.

A Video Monetization Pilot Program is on its Way

Pakistan is one of those regions where Facebook has not yet activated video monetization. That means content creators in the country cannot make money through ads on their videos.

According to the Ministry of Information Technology, a pilot project is underway to provide Pakistani content creators with an equal opportunity to thrive on Facebook. The project will test the possible outcomes of Facebook Monetization in Pakistan.

Facebook currently has reservations with the regulatory framework of the country and thus finds immediate implementation risky.

The Initiative to Monetize Facebook in Pakistan

The resolution comes from MPA Ziaullah Bangash from Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) who urged the government to take necessary actions towards Facebook Monetization. He considered it as a golden opportunity to promote growth and employment opportunities in the country

According to him, the Speaker of the National Assembly had discussed the project with Facebook officials. The meeting took place online with Sarim Aziz who is Facebook’s head of Public Policy in South Asia.

How Video Monetization Works?

Video monetization is a way to earn through your videos and it works through in-stream ads, brand collaborations, and fan subscriptions. While video monetization doesn’t work in Pakistan some Pakistanis use services of companies abroad and monetize their videos from those countries.

If Facebook video monetization becomes available in Pakistan, it will help every citizen to benefit from the platform.

What to Expect from the Pilot Program?

If the program is successful, we will see Facebook video monetization in Pakistan. Millions of people in the country will be able to earn remotely. That would be very helpful towards the country’s economy considering the pandemic and the “work from a home” culture that came with it.

While the news about when the pilot project will be launched isn’t here yet, we can surely expect it to prove beneficial for Pakistan.
