A 16-year-old British-Pakistani student, Mahnoor Cheema, has achieved an extraordinary feat by passing an astonishing total of 34 subjects at the General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE) level.

This achievement not only sets a record within the United Kingdom but also on an international scale.

Mahnoor’s remarkable journey began with 17 subjects she passed with A* grades as a private candidate in Year 10.

Building on this achievement, she added another 17 subjects, bringing her total count to 34. This achievement is a new milestone in the history of UK and EU GCSEs, marking the highest number of subjects ever taken by a student.

Humble Beginning from Lahore

Originally from Lahore, Pakistan, Mahnoor’s parents, Barrister Usman Cheema and Tayyaba Cheema, moved to the UK in 2006 to pursue further education. Mahnoor initially attended a private school in Lahore before joining Langley Grammar School in West London.

Higher IQ Than Einstein?

Beyond her academic accomplishments, Mahnoor’s intellectual prowess is evident, with an IQ score of 161 on the Mensa IQ Test, surpassing even the renowned Albert Einstein’s estimated IQ of 160. This achievement places her among the top 1% of the world’s most intellectually capable individuals.

Mahnoor’s diverse achievements also extend to music, as she completed ABRSM Music Theory and Practical in Grade 8 with distinction. Notably, she is one of the youngest individuals in the UK pursuing a music diploma.

Her academic and intellectual excellence is complemented by her inclusion as a shortlisted candidate in the prestigious John Locke essay competition, with the awards ceremony scheduled in Oxford.

Mahnoor’s aspirations go beyond her impressive academic achievements. Driven by a passion for medicine and a desire to contribute to humanity, she undertook the Biomedical Admissions Test (BMAT) and the University Clinical Aptitude Test (UCAT) at the age of 15, scoring in the 99th percentile among test-takers.
