HEC Withdraws Decision to Ban Holi & Other Events After Severe Backlash

The HEC has decided to withdraw its decision of imposing a ban on events like Holi. It has been clarified that the HEC respects all religions and that it was a misunderstanding that led to the severe backlash.

The earlier notification intended to awaken the higher education institutes to follow their core purpose and to carry out events in a controlled manner.

The HEC regrets the miscommunication and has made it clear that they do not intend to hurt the sentiments of any community.

Earlier, a video appeared on social media where students from Quaid-e-Azam University were celebrating Holi.

They were dancing and playing with colors, which led to HEC putting a ban on events like Holi and any other event which goes against Islamic Ideology.

After backlash from the media, the HEC decided to withdraw the decision adding to the relief of the minority communities in Pakistan.
