The current Defence Minister, Khawaja Asif, recently called overseas Pakistanis “shameless” for their lack of loyalty to the country. The statement comes after a big drop in foreign remittance was reported in May 2023.
He added that these Pakistanis, some living in Canada and some in the US, only come back to Pakistan to bury their dead.
He showed strong disapproval towards the current actions of Pakistanis abroad and labeled them as “shameless.”

The Minister received severe backlash on this statement, and many criticized his government for being incompetent and for losing the trust of overseas Pakistanis.
