Harassment Case Surfaces at King Edward Medical College Lahore

A university employee at the King Edward Medical University (KEMU) was caught making videos of a student in the university washroom.

The victim is an MBBS Part-I student who caught the suspect red-handed and snatched his mobile phone, where she found objectionable clips.

Matters have now reached the police after the victim’s family has threatened to take action against the university authorities.

The unfortunate incident took place at the KEMU Maqbool Block, which is home to 700 female students. This indicates the lack of security and safety for so many girls and the fear the students must face every day amidst negligence by the authorities.

Taking to Twitter, students and public figures like Hamid Mir raised their voices, demanding justice and strict punishment for the culprit.

Parents Blast the Administration

According to reports, the girl’s parents reached the university on Monday (5th June) and lashed out at the administration for their incompetence in ensuring the privacy, safety, and protection of girls.

The parents also threatened to lodge a complaint against the higher authorities for keeping such employees on the university premises.

An Ignorant Administration

As per reports, the KEMU administration was trying to save the suspect by ignoring the matter.

Reports stated that the victim had earlier complained multiple times, but the authorities took no action.

Unrest Among Female Students

The incident sparked strong resentment and unrest among female students who fear that the suspect might be a habitual criminal.

The victim, in this case, caught the culprit, but no one knows how many videos he had taken earlier and how many might have been posted online.

Culprit Handed Over to the Police

According to the KEMU authorities, the suspect has been handed over to police. According to the Vice Chancellor of KEMU, Mahmood Ayaz, the matter has been taken to the court of law for punishment to prevent such incidents in the future.
