Drone technology has recently been unveiled by the National Highways and Motorway Police for traffic tracking and road patrols.
According to reports, the Motorway Police have bought drones and have begun using this technology to monitor and verify all violations of traffic regulations, including on major highways and the entire highway system.
Not only would the technology aid in monitoring and maintaining traffic volumes on roads and highways to ensure a smooth and safe flow, but it would also aid in the successful and timely interception of criminal activity. The data collected by the drones may be used to apprehend the criminals.
The trial operation for this drone technology to patrol the overall motorways and roads was already started in the previous month, according to a highway official.
The police will use this latest drone device to monitor traffic movement from the M9 motorway. According to highway authorities, this drone technology effort is a part of a five-year vision that also covers drives to modernize National Highways and Motorways Police.
