I know you must have clicked the title because either the news must have been odd or quite amusing for you at glance. We might not have the Grand Prix here in Pakistan, but our local motorsports culture and car enthusiasts can not be underestimated.
We all know that Pakistanis love motorsports and we all have an eye for customizing our stock cars or buying sports-car, luxury cars, or even sports-bikes.
However, our enthusiasts have always dreamed of a platform to fulfill their desire and experience the ‘track’ to live their passion.
We present you with grand news that the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has decided to build Pakistan’s very own motor-sports arena in Kheshgi, Nowshera. This will be the Countries first-ever Arena where moto-sports activities can take place. How cool is that!
What Do We Know?
As far as we know from the reports, KPK’s Sports and Tourism Department has exchanged a detailed blueprint with the Provincial Minister Mahmood Khan regarding the mega-project.
The model of the sports area features:
- Go-cart track
- Off-road track Circuit
- Drag race track
- Off-road practicing track
- On-road practicing track
- Asphalt track Circuit
The plan also included other things like the gas station, service stations, and garages.
For all the rest who want to spectate the cars on track, the plan also includes a pavilion of 3000 plus seats, bleachers, towers with terraces, food courts, and a shopping mall.
The arena will be built on 147 acres of land dedicated to this project and an estimated Rs100 million cost is expected. When will the project be inaugurated, start and finish are still yet to be disclosed.
Opportunity For Motor-sports In Pakistan?
There is no doubt that the Pakistani soil is blessed with some highly talented and enthusiastic motorsports professionals. It can be said with confidence that our youth is also inclined towards motorsports. This means that any type of investment will be highly beneficial for Pakistan.
Among our skilled and talented professionals, Nadir Magsi is a passionate rally driver who has participated in almost all the rallies and also won the majority of them.
Another motor-sports professional that has made the country proud internationally is Usman Ghani. Ghani is the first Pakistani holder of the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM) license. How cool is that?
Bottom-line
There is no doubt about talent, passion, and enthusiasm in Pakistanis when it comes to motor-sports. From all the stories it is quite evident that motorsports have a huge scope in Pakistan.
Not that we are assuming it, but it’s something that we see as well. Professional and even new talent need a platform for themselves to showcase and be recognized by the country.
The government has taken good initiatives to at least kick-start this project but more measures should be taken to promote this sport on a national level.
