MDA Announces to Establish Tent City for Flood Victims in Karachi

For flood victims in Karachi, the Malir Development Authority (MDA) has announced plans to set up a temporary tent city. The settlement is made up of temporary tents and has been set up for a month. The DG MDA added in his statement that, “Flood affected individuals would be relocated in the area outside Naya Nazimabad after one month,”

For the flood victims traveling to Karachi from interior Sindh, the government has set aside 100 acres of land to build a tent city.

Deputy Commissioner Malir mentioned that sector 18 of the Malir district will receive a 100-acre land when speaking about the tent city. The area’s tens of thousands of tents will house up to 100,000 flood victims. He said that in addition to accommodation, the flood victims would also receive a variety of facilities in the camps.

“The tent settlement will be established at New Malir Housing Scheme-I link road”, Director General MDA Sohail Khan gave his statement.

Murad Ali Shah, the chief minister of Sindh, claimed that only 250,000 of the 1.5 million tents needed have been arranged till now.
