1. Dow Medical College

Dow Medical College established in 1945 was named after the then governor of Sindh Sir Hugh Dow and stands today as one of the premier medical institutions in the county. Credited to producing generations of doctors in the country, it is still one of the most sought-after medical colleges in Karachi. It is currently affiliated with the Dow University of Health Sciences established in 2003 and the Civil Hospital Karachi as its teaching hospital. The college imparts both academic and practical knowledge and training to the budding doctors of tomorrow.

Currently providing education in all domains of health sciences the undergraduate programs offered include Nursing, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Health Management, Laboratory Technology, Biotechnology, Nutrition, and Physical Therapy, etc. 

The fee structure for DMC is 31,900 PKR per year for a total of 159,500 PKR for the 5-year program.

2. Sindh Medical College

Sindh Medical College was established by the Sindh government in 1973. Associated with the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Institute, the college has upgraded its facilities since becoming a university in 2012. The college offers modular teaching with problem-based and case-based learning. It conducts online exams and is equipped with state-of-the-art labs and has a Wi-Fi facility for the students. The college boasts a state-of-the-art video conferencing facility and provides access to the HEC Digital Library.

The affiliated hospitals include Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC), the National Institute of Child Health (NICH), and the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD).

3. Karachi Medical and Dental College

Karachi Medical and Dental College was established in 1991 and has stood the test of time as the premier dental college in the city. KMDC was the first to establish an entrance test for its MBBS program admission as it has no quota system and no self-finance seats. Inducting up to 250 Medical and 100 dental students each year, KMDC remains as one of the premier medical education institutes in the country.

Affiliated with the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital as its teaching hospital, KMDC is recognized by the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council and is affiliated with the University of Karachi as its degree awarding institute.

4. Dow International Medical College

The Dow International Medical College was established in 2007 and is linked with the Dow University of Health Sciences as its degree-awarding institution. DIMC is included in the WHO directory and is a state-of-the-art institution with an updated digital library, laboratories and research facilities, and animal house, etc.

The college is affiliated with the Dow University Hospital and the Ojha Institute of Chest Diseases. The College also boasts separate male and female hostels for students. The campus encompasses a well-equipped gymnasium and cricket field for students’ extracurricular activities.

1. Aga Khan University Medical College

The Aga Khan University Medical College offers one of the most reputed and esteemed medical education programs in the country. The college was established in 1983, as a constituent of Aga Khan University’s Faculty of Health Sciences. 2. Al-Tibri Medical College

Located in Gadap Town, Malir, the Al-Tibri Medical College was established in 2015. Affiliated with Isra University and the Al-Tibri Teaching hospital, the college fills a gaping void in the medical education domain in Malir.

The medical college curriculum focuses on building a foundation in basic clinical sciences as well as hands-on training at the Al-Tibri teaching hospital. The Bahria University Medical College was established in 2008, in DHA Phase II, Karachi. The college is affiliated with the National University of Medical Sciences (NUMS) for its MBBS and BDS programs. The candidates are required to appear in both the Pakistan Medical Council (PMC) Medical College Admission Test (MDCAT)  and the NUMS entry test to be eligible for entry into the Bahria Medical College.

The college follows the problem-based learning methodology with interactive learning and modular teaching methods. The college is equipped with laboratories,  museums, dedicated teaching rooms for small group teaching, and a skills laboratory. It is affiliated with PNS Shifa as its teaching hospital.

The Jinnah Medical and Dental College started operations in 1998 and is affiliated with the Jinnah Sindh Medical University and recognized by PMDC. The Ziauddin Medical College was established in 1996 and is well known as a reputed medical college in Karachi. A great emphasis is placed on community health in order to train more empathetic doctors for the future. 

The medical college is affiliated with 3 campuses of Dr. Ziauddin Hospital located at North Nazimabad, Clifton, and Kemari. Admission into the program requires clearing the MDCAT along with a college interview.
