The T20 World Cup final in Melbourne is predicted to be peppered by rain on Sunday evening.

The Bureau of Meteorology has predicted a 95% chance of showers on Sunday.

3 Matches have already been abandoned due to rain.

The T20 final is expected to see more than 90,000 spectators but that figure could drop.

Chances of the Match Getting Postponed? 

Sky News meteorologist Rob Sharpe said that for the matches in Brisbane, Sydney, and Melbourne, in particular, there’s a high chance of rainfall, and thus games being washed out.

Situation 1 – A Backup Match Played on Monday

Unlike group stage matches, the T20 World Cup knock-out matches enjoy a reserve day, as a backup. 

The reserve day, scheduled for the final is Monday, with 2 extra hours allocated to complete the match.  

But the Monday forecast isn’t particularly promising as well.

Situation 2 -Two Finalists Share the Trophy 

In case the final is washed out, the trophy will be shared between the two finalists.

According to sources, the T20 World Cup match start time will not be shifted due to the preferences of global broadcasters.

For the match to complete, at least 10 overs will be needed. It is a test of time now, as to what will be the fate of the final match!
