After winning the 18th Penang Junior Open 2022 in Malaysia, Pakistan’s 11-year-old squash player Mahnoor Ali has been praised for her talent at such a young age.
Mahnoor was born in Peshawar but now lives in Karachi. Mahnoor said after receiving the prestigious award: “To be honest, it’s an extraordinary sensation. It’s still hard for me to believe.”
“It was a difficult competition because I faced some extremely tough competitors. But my main goal was to win the trophy, ” Mahnoor recalled confidently.
In the final, the teenager defeated Malaysia’s Avantikashrii Seenivasagam 3-0 to win the gleaming trophy. Mahnoor dominated the competition, winning three straight sets by scores of 11-4, 11-1, and 11-3.
Mahnoor Ali was outstanding throughout the Championship, demonstrating her superiority and classic game of attacking shorts and forceful smashes. In the quarter-finals, she defeated another top seeded player, Malaysian Hetikaa Murali, 3-0, with scores of 11-2, 11-7, and 11-6, and advanced to the semi-finals.
She was also the National U11 Junior Championship winner.
The young athlete stated that receiving the trophy was an emotional experience for her. “Winning an international event and receiving the trophy was my first time.”
“I won’t lie, I was a little emotional, but I was also happy because of the trophy,” Mahnoor said.
Mahnoor attributed her inspiration to her coach Amir and her father. “Sir Amir, my coach, and my father worked extremely hard with me. It would not have been possible without them. I am extremely grateful to my coaches and family for their support ” She reached a conclusion.
