World’s Highest Cricket Stadium Inaugurated in Northern Pakistan

Sports are what brings people together and a cricket stadium built around beautiful views draws many visitors.

The stadium, for which a three-kilometer-long road has also been built, was officially opened by the local political authority on 8th October, 2022.

At the stadium, where provincial minister Fatehullah Khan was present as the chief guest, teams from Diamer and Nagar played their opening match.

By holding Nagar to 71 runs as they attempted to reach the 161-run goal, the Diamer squad won the T20 match by 90 wickets.

In February 2021, breath-taking photos of the Pissan ground went popular on social media, prompting the decision to build a cricket stadium.

The administration of Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) intends to foster stadium culture in order to develop local cricket talent in GB, as stated by the Chief Secretary Gilgit-Baltistan Mohyuddin Ahmad Wani.

“We hope that players from this region will represent Pakistan in international tournaments. Moreover, we want to unlock the region’s touristic potential that will spur economic activity in nearby villages and bring livelihood to people at their doorstep,” he added.

Patrick, a tourist said, “I am very lucky that I am right here to see my first cricket match in the mountains of Rakaposhi,” Patrick expressed his gratitude to the Gilgit-Baltistan government for offering such healthy activities to visitors from around the world.
