We have seen very few projects that have been planned to ease a woman’s life and transportation has always been an issue for all the ladies out there. Almost every woman has faced some sort of harassment while using public transportation. Therefore, the Pink Bus service has been a great initiative for giving all the ladies a comfortable means of transportation in which they feel safe and secure.
The bus service will run on 4 important routes in Gilgit and Skardu between 6:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., was officially launched by Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) Chief Minister Khalid Khursheed.
Chief Minister GB today inaugurated pink buses for women. Free buses for women have been introduced for the first time in Pakistan’s history. In a tweet, Chief Secretary said “Three buses have been made operational in Gilgit and Skardu city, with the government planning to expand it to other areas of the province.”
The women-only bus service will benefit female students, doctors, teachers, lawyers, and other professional ladies, according to a statement from the chief secretary.
The region’s chief secretary, Mohyuddin Ahmad Wani, stated that the service will be expanded to other cities as well.
“Traffic officers have also been directed to assist these buses on the roads,” he said.
Social media users have praised this initiative, saying that it will not only help women with transportation costs during these difficult times, but will also encourage and empower them to go to offices, schools, hospitals, markets, and travel for business or other purposes.
