Flood Warning for Karachi Due to Heavy Rain After July 1st

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a warning about urban flooding in Karachi as a result of the heavy monsoon rains that began on July 1 across Sindh.

The country of South Asia has been experiencing a severe heat wave, but PMD stated moist currents from the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal are likely to take up the upper portions of the nation on Wednesday and could intensify and spread to the southern regions in the coming days.

Along with rain, windstorms, and thundershowers, conditions are predicted to be windy in:

  • Swat
  • Mansehra
  • Kohistan
  • Abbottabad
  • Haripur
  • Peshawar
  • Mardan
  • Swabi
  • Nowshera
  • Rawalpindi
  • Murree
  • Attock
  • Chakwal
  • Jhelum
  • Sargodha
  • Hafizabad
  • Mandi Bahauddin
  • Sial

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has advised the relevant authorities to take all essential precautions to handle an emergency as a result of the heavy rain predicted in several areas of Sindh.

In addition, the PDMA has warned the public to avoid windows and doors when there is a lot of rain or wind.

Avoid low-lying places, drainage ditches, and areas where water collects because they may suddenly flood or overflow, the warning stated.
