The Asma Jahangir Award

In honor of the late human rights advocate Asma Jahangir, the British High Commissioner bestowed the Asma Jahangir Award upon the top-ranking female Chevening scholar of the year.

Notably, there was a tie, resulting in the award being presented to three accomplished females: Anila Yousaf and Zaitoon Kareem from Balochistan, along with Varsha Deepak from Sindh.

Introduced in 2018, the Asma Jahangir Award has been granted to nine female Chevening scholars over the years.

This year marked the introduction of Chevening scholarships supported by UK partners. The first partnership is with Swindon Town Football Club, offering a one-year Master’s degree in Football Coaching or Science at either Solent University or the University Campus of Football Business at Wembley Stadium.

The second partnership, with the University of Essex, provides two scholarships for studies related to climate change or heritage and museum studies.
