Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in a meeting on Wednesday, 21st September, announced to provide subsidies to producers of the medication, Panadol and Paracetamol.

As both drugs are popular painkillers used by individuals regularly, the news of these drugs being unavailable or scarcely available was disturbing for the general public.

Last week, reports also emerged that the firm that manufactured Paracetamol in Karachi may stop production.

Ensuring Availability Amid Panadol Shortage

Finally, the relief came as the government asked the Federal Health Ministry for a revision summary that rationalizes the price of these drugs and ensures availability and affordability in the market.

During the meeting, PM Shehbaz Sharif stated, “The Government will provide subsidies to the producers of Panadol and Paracetamol to make them affordable for the people”.

On Wednesday, PM Shehbaz Sharif was chairing a Zoom meeting to review the pace of various rehabilitation activities and flood relief actions in the flood-hit areas.

Finance Minister Miftah Ismail, Advisor to Prime Minister Ahad Cheema, Information Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, and other senior officers attended the meeting.

Shehbaz Sharif is currently attending the 77th Session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA77) in New York. The event is scheduled from 20 to 26 September.
