- CDA facing criticism for violating the Islamabad Master Plan
- Pakistan Environment Protection Agency will soon conduct a public hearing
The Capital Development Authority (CDA) is currently facing criticism on the Bhara Kahu bypass project for violating the Islamabad Master Plan.
The environmental impact matters more than ever considering Pakistan is among the top countries suffering from climate change.
A Public Hearing on the Matter
Pakistan Environment Protection Agency (Pak-EPA) will soon conduct a public hearing on the Environmental Impact Assessment report prepared by CDA on the Bhara Kahu bypass Project.
The faculty members who have challenged the project for its environmental impacts have drafted a 14-page response to the CDA’s 244-page-long assessment report.
Both responses have been submitted to the Pak-EPA and will be evaluated this Friday.
CDA Violated the Islamabad Master Plan
It has been claimed that the CDA project violated the Islamabad master plan, and did not take stakeholders on board before they started the project.
They also chopped down a number of trees without taking the rising deforestation rate into account.
