1st Muharram

9th, 10th & 11th Muharram

Muslims consider it Sunnah to fast on the 9th and 10th of Muharram or on the 10th and 11th of Muharram to distinguish this practice from that of the Jews.

The 9th and 10th Muharram are expected to fall on 24 June and 25 June 2026, respectively. However, if Muahrram begins on 17th June, both days will move forward by one. 

Ashura is the 10th and the most significant day, marked by large processions and majalis across the country. Both the 9th and 10th are public holidays, whichever scenario applies.

Observe Voluntary Fasting

 10th Muharram is called Ashura, a significant day in Islam. Fasting on Ashura is considered Sunnah and gives you spiritual reward.
