The Engineering Development Board (EDB) has finalized a draft/document on solar panels and allied equipment manufacturing.
The proposal will be submitted to the government by the end of July, for approval.
The EDB aims to promote the use of alternate energy resources in order to overcome power shortages in the country and the policy document is a step towards that.
The draft was presented in June 2022, at the 51st Board of Management meeting of EDB.
The EDB was advised to hold a consultative workshop before submitting the policy document.
The policy is expected to combine with the National Solar Energy Policy which is being prepared by the Ministry of Power and the Renewable Energy Task Force, under the leadership of the PM of Pakistan.
