Hajj 2022: Quota, Cost, and Application Deadline

The Government of Pakistan has announced the opening of Hajj Applications for the year 2022. The applications will remain open from May 1 to May 13.  

A total of 81,132 pilgrims will get the chance to perform Hajj from Pakistan with 40% from government schemes and 60% from private. 

Applicants will have to deposit PKR 50,000 token money with their applications to scheduled banks. 

Hajj 2022: Application Deadline

The Saudi Hajj ministry has given the deadline of May 16, to complete all the formalities for Hajj 2022. 

Therefore to make sure everything goes smoothly the government has given a deadline of May 13 to applicants for the submission of token money and applications. 

Private and Government Hajj Quota

The Saudi government has allowed 1 million pilgrims from different countries this year, unlike the last few years when only locals could perform Hajj. 

A total of 81,132 pilgrims will get the chance to perform Hajj from Pakistan with 40% from government schemes and 60% from private. 

According to the Ministry of Religious Affairs, applications submitted would go through balloting in the form of groups. 

Individual members from successful groups will get the chance to perform Hajj. 

Hajj 2022 Package

It is expected that the cost of Hajj will be around PKR 0.7 million to 1 million this year according to the Ministry of Religious Affairs. 

Religious Affairs Minister Mufti Abdul Shakoor stated in a press conference that due to the increase in taxes and cost of services, the Hajj expenses will likely be higher this year. 

Unlike previous years when the complete amount was to be submitted, applicants will now deposit PKR 50,000 token money with their applications, to scheduled banks. 

Hajj Age Limit

The age limit for Hajj 2022 has been set to 65 years. The date of birth of the applicant needs to be later than August 15, 1957. 

Covid Restrictions

Considering the 2019 pandemic and the restrictions regarding Hajj during the previous years, the government of Pakistan has made the COVID-19 booster jab along with PCR tests 72 hours prior to departure, compulsory for aspiring pilgrims. 

Applicants who are not vaccinated against Covid are not eligible to perform Hajj.
