The gravestones in the Muslim section of the cemetery were vandalized. Some graves at Burnley cemetery were covered with grey paint. After this incident, Police are investigating the hate crime. But the town councillor, Afrasiab Anwar, called this act “Evil” and likely meant to create a rational tension.
People are scared of this all happening, and they don’t want to leave their houses because they don’t feel safe. Women wearing hijabs are openly threatened in the streets.
