Paris is buzzing with excitement about hosting its very first “ Paralympic Games Opening Ceremony.” The countdown to an extraordinary moment in sporting history will be celebrated in two of the city’s most famous spots:  Place de la Concorde and the Champs-Elysées. This ceremony will feature 4400 paralympic athletes from 169 different countries as they kick off 11 days of incredible competition.

The ceremony was more accessible to the public than the Olympic Opening Ceremony, which was tightly secured and had rainy weather.  The audience will be able to watch athletes parade down the Champs-Elysées and near the Louvre Museum. This open setup is expected to make the celebration more enjoyable.

Tony Estanguet, President of Paris 2024, has shared their thoughts on this ceremony. He said this is not a sports celebration; It’s a powerful symbol of France’s commitment to making inclusion a key part of society.
