PTA Clarifies VPN Policies

The use of VPNs in pakistan has increased. The main reason was they wanted to access X (formerly known as Twitter), which has been blocked in the country since February 19. But in the last few days, the news of blocking VPNs ( Virtual Private networks) in social media has gained alot of attention.

To alleviate people’s worries, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has released a statement about blocking virtual private networks to clear the misinformation that was spreading throughout the country.

The PTA has launched a simple and easy process to approve your VPNs from their official website or the Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB) website. This process is only for businesses and IT services to run smoothly by approved VPNs. PTA also mentions blocking unauthorized sites that are not secure to access. This process ensures that only authorized websites are used for work purposes. They also mention blocking VPNs over the country has a significant negative effect on many online businesses.
