Rapid Silicon is a world-leading open-source FPGA company. They specialize in AI-enabled and application-specific Field-Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) technology. Rapid Silicon has recently announced that it is setting foot in Pakistan as the country’s first chip design company, starting from Lahore. The company is establishing a presence in the cultural city with an initial strength of 60 engineers and $15 million in seed funding.

Rapid Silicon is based in San Jose and Shanghai and is headed by an industry veteran Dr. Naveed Sherwani. FPGA technology is essential for today’s tech-driven environment with Rapid Silicon being perfectly poised to become a global leader in this domain. 

Rapid Silicon has secured substantial seed funding of 15 million USD from venture capital firms such as ChengWei Capital and Cambium Capital, operating in the IT domain. This will bring countless opportunities for engineers and computer science graduates in the country and flow essential foreign exchange into Pakistan. The company has opted for Lahore as its initial base due to the city’s evolution as the IT capital of Pakistan.

Rapid Silicon is a founding member of the Open Source FPGA Foundation and encourages methodologies that foster innovation on a global scale. The company boasts a world-class team of inventors and industry veterans with plans to establish more offices in Europe and Asia.
