Step-by-Step Guide to Apply for Visa
Step 1
The first step is to determine which type of visa you require and whether you are eligible to apply for it. You’ll also need to know what documents you’ll need to submit with your application, how long it might take, and what fees you’ll have to pay. Each application must follow the guidelines for your visa category. If your documents are not in English, you may be required to obtain translations before applying.
Step 2
When you are ready to apply, you can download the visa application form, fill it out, print it, and bring it to the Visa Application Centre (along with the documents required for the Visa category you have chosen) for submission.
Step 3
After completing your visa application, you must schedule an appointment at a Visa Application Centre to have your fingerprints and photo taken. This is referred to as ‘biometric information. You will receive an appointment confirmation email along with the letter of appointment once you have booked your appointment. If you are part of a family or group, you must schedule separate appointments for each member of the family or group.
Step 4
You must pay your visa application fee once you have submitted your application. Payment can be made at the time of your appointment if you download the form to print and bring it to the Visa Application Centre. The Visa application fee must be paid in cash at the Visa Application Centre.

When your decision is returned to the Visa Application Centre, you will be notified via email. If you don’t have easy access to email or want more detailed tracking information, you may be able to get updates via SMS sent directly to your phone. Check to see if this service is available at the Visa Application Centre you intend to visit.
You can also check the status of your visa application online. To access this service, enter the Reference Number found on the invoice/receipt issued by the Visa Application Centre, along with your last name.
Step 7
After a visa application decision is made, you can either pick up your passport from the Visa Application Centre or have it returned to you by courier for a fee.
When picking up your passport in person, bring the Visa Application Centre receipt and a form of government identification. If permitted, you may send a representative to collect your passport; they must present a letter of authorization signed by you, the receipt issued by the Visa Application Centre, and government identification.
